The Induction to Local Government seminar will be presented by Phil Shanahan (ex Local Government CEO) and has been designed for people who are new or recently appointed staff to Local Government. The aim of the program is to provide Local Government employees with a clearer understanding about:-
(i) The role of Local Government in a Federal system;
(ii) Financial arrangements and challenges for Local Government;
(iii) Governance issues for Local Government employees, including managing relationships, the role of Councillors, ethical behaviour and practices and legal obligations;
(iv) Local democracy and community engagement.
